Mr T Bone - Instrumental Sessions Vol 1
Instrumental Sessions Vol.1 was conceived over the years while MR T BONE
toured across Europe and the United States. The caliber of bands and
musicians he came across was so staggering, MR T BONE knew he had to
make this album! Collecting some instrumental tracks of tunes that he
loved, he composed new melodies for these songs and called up his
favorite horn players to re-record the songs. The final result is 12
infectious tracks inspired by pure love of Jamaican music! The whole
album was mixed by Victor Rice, and futures guest appearances by members
of The Slackers (NYC) The Bullets (Los Angeles) The Caroloregians/Moon
Invaders (Belgium), The Ratazanas (Portugal), The Soul Captives (San
Francisco), The Forthrights (NYC), and The Heatmakers (France) - what an

Island Presents Rocksteady 40 Soulful Classics
During the long, hot summer of 1966,
Jamaica's national sound underwent a dramatic transformation. The Ska rhythm
that had dominated the island's music scene since its independence in 1962
slowed significantly, so providing dancers with the opportunity to enjoy
themselves without suffering heat exhaustion.
Early in 1967, this new, more
measured style acquired a name of its own, Rock Steady, and for the next two
years, the style remained the prevailing sound in Jamaica, with many of the
most popular recordings in the genre released in the UK on Chris Blackwell's
famed Island Records imprint.
By the close of 1968, Rock Steady
had been supplanted by Reggae and Blackwell was involved with a new Jamaican
music company, Trojan Records, but before these momentous events, Island
was at the forefront of the sound in the UK, as reflected in the music on this
essential 40 track two disc collection.
As with other titles in the series,
'Island Presents Rock Steady' the very best in Jamaican sounds without
duplicating material featured on other titles in the range, so ensuring fans
are not only guaranteed top quality music, but also great value for money.

Tubby pero algunos cortes no fueron salidos en esa época hasta ahora tienes la oportunidad de

"From the archive of producer Jah Thomas’ Midnight Rock label comes the third and final in the series of lost and previously unreleased dubs. Mixed at King Tubby’s Studio by both the master himself and his apprentice Scientist, this is prime early 80s dub pressure. Jah Thomas would record his rhythm tracks at Channel One with the legendary Roots Radics Band, and would then go to King Tubby to get his dubs. He would be given three passes of each track and down the years these had become discarded and unheard. Roots’ ‘Lost Classics’ series has unearthed these masterpieces and brought them to public attention. ‘Chapter 3’ maintains the high quality of the previous volumes. Amongst the rhythm tracks given the Tubby treatment are ‘No No No’, ‘Stalag’ and ‘Letter From Zion’ which was the backing track to Junior Keatting’s ‘Jah He Wrote Me A Letter’.

Lee “Scratch” Perry and Friends – Disco Devil: The Jamaican Discomixes
Review : By the latter half of the seventies, disco-mixes – extended versions of
tracks - were de rigueur throughout popular music. The trend was
particularly suited to reggae, as vocal cuts could be spliced with DJ or
Dub cuts to create long-playing versions singles - and there was no
greater exponent of the disco-mix format than Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.
From 1976 to 1980, Perry created some of the most sublime 12” singles ever to see issue and the very best of these works are collected here on this long over due collection, Disco Devil.
Disc One
1. Norman – Max Romeo, The Upsetters
2. Bad Weed – Junior Murvin
3. To Be A Lover (Have Some Mercy) – George Faith
4. Know Love – The Twin Roots
5. Rainy Night In Portland – Watty Burnett
6. Disco Devil – Lee “Scratch” Perry, Full Experience
7. City Too Hot – Lee “Scratch” Perry
8. Words – Sangie Davis, Lee Perry
9. Roots Train – Junior Murvin, Dillinger
Disc Two
1. Open The Gate – Watty Burnett
2. Neckodeemus – The Congos
3. Rasta Train – Doctor Alimantado, Raphael Green
4. Ketch Vampire – Doctor Alimentado, Devon Irons
5. History – Carlton Jackson
6. Sons Of Slaves – Junior Delgado
7. Party Time – The Heptones
8. Free Up The Prisoners – Lee “Scratch” Perry
9. Garden Of Life – Leroy Sibbles

Island Presents SKA 40 Originals Ska Classics
1962, youthful music entrepreneur, Chris Blackwell moved his Island Records operation from Kingston, Jamaica to London. He promptly struck licensing deals with most of the island's leading producers and over the ensuing months released an array of popular 45s by a host Caribbean talent.
As a result, Island became a dominant force in the ever-expanding West Indian music market, only relinquishing its position after Blackwell had helped lunch Trojan Records in 1968.
The strength of Island's early Jamaican music catalogue is reflected in this, the latest in the popular 'Presents' range.
Collecting some of the best and rarest Ska sides from 1962 to 1966, the 2CD 40 track release highlights just why the company's output is so revered among fans of the genre.
And with artists including such luminaries as Bob Marley, Desmond Dekker, the Skatalites and Jimmy Cliff, 'Island Presents Ska' is not only a must for established fans, but also serves as a perfect introduction to the genre and Island's early musical history.

Studio One IRONSIDES
REVIEW !
More Info at !
This is the third release of the resuscitated Studio One compilation series from Soul Jazz records after a three year break from 2008 to 2011. This is certainly the weakest of the three recent Studio One compilations from Soul Jazz but the first two were absolutely superb and this set whilst somewhat patchier still has a good number of very worthwhile gems. First the "bad"; the two dubs on the set ['Jamrec Dub' & 'Reggae Version'] are mediocre and with the peerless stock of Studio One rhythms at their disposal I am sure better choices could have been made. Also some of the tracks are pretty familiar to most reggae collectors including "Can I Change You Mind" by Alton Ellis, "Bongo Red" by The Gladiators, "Come Now Sister" by Freddie McGregor --- admittedly classic songs however for those who haven't heard them before! Finally the Dennis Alcapone track is horrible; always my least favourite DJ and he mucks up (again!) a classic rhythm; this time Burning Spear's peerless "He Prayed".
The good which is pretty much remaining 12 tracks including a couple of storming ska tracks from the top drawer; Don Drummond & Jackie Mittoo via his '66 band The Soul Brothers, two excellent DJ toasts by Lone Ranger (riding the 'Full Up' rhythm) & Prince Jazzbo (both somewhat atoning for the rank Alcapone track), some mighty rocksteady courtesy of the Paragons (which was definitely NOT recorded in 1975 as the liner notes indicate!) and Marcia Griffiths. There is also some superior roots from the obscure Fabian Cooke with a terse rhythm that sounds like it originates from the late '70's and not 1970 as the liners state, the similarly obscure Stingers, and Freddie McGregor's frankly awesome "I Man A Rasta" (in slightly hissy sound though sadly).
So in conclusion an entertaining set but not quite from the top drawer unlike the previous two Soul Jazz Studio One compilations which certainly were. Surely it is time now for a 'Studio One Rocksteady' themed compilation rounding up some of the best of the late '66 to late '68 era which surely was the most productive era for Studio One (despite what this compilation's strangely defensive liner notes state).

Listen To The Music – Caltone's Jamaican 45's 1966-69’
Ken Lack who founded the Caltone label was a businessman with a passion for music. His connections with Jamaica’s top session players resulted in a series of 45s that were both tasteful and well produced.
Included in this 21 track album are tracks by Tommy McCook and the Supersonics. ‘Smooth Sailing’ and ‘Killer Joe’ are both superb horn driven instrumentals. There are three tracks by The Clarendonians led by the vocal talents of Peter Austin. ‘I’m Sorry’ and ‘Lonely Heartaches’ are top draw rocksteady songs. Rare 45s that have never been re-issued since the original Jamaican pressings.
It was Bunny Lee and Phil Pratt who handled most of the hands-on production for Ken Lack although there was undoubtedly much input from Lynn Tait, Tommy McCook and Johnny Moore.
The music, recorded at WIRL, Federal and Treasure Isle studios, is filled with the kind of creativity and attention to detail that has made Caltone records so collectable to this day. When Ken Lack died in 2001 in Miami, Florida of a heart condition he left behind a unique set of recordings and should be remembered for bringing a more collaborative and cooperative spirit to Jamaican music.
There is an extra special booklet with many original graphics and photographs.
The mastering is all produced to a high standard and we are very pleased to add this fantastic album to our catalogue.
