Includes liner by Digitally remastered by Toby Mountain (Northeastern Digital, Southborough, Massachusetts). The rocksteady era was a magical time in the history of reggae music.
The jazzy, galloping ska backbeat was ceding place to a slower, more elastic groove, and singing styles were mellowing out as well; the vinegary trio harmonies of groups like the Wailers and the Ethiopians gradually gave way to the smoother, more soul-influenced sounds of the Techniques and the Melodians.
The music of this period was, paradoxically, both more spiritual and more sensual than the music that came before, without the ganja-infused mysticism that would come to dominate the music later on. This collection, yet another in a long and fruitful string of collaborations between the American Heartbeat label and Duke Reid's Treasure Isle, brings together 18 gems from the period, including classic tracks by John Holt ("I See Your Face"), Justin Hinds ("Time Pass By"), and Phyllis Dillon ("Take My Heart"), as well as a couple of less noteworthy efforts (such as the Sensations' mediocre "Baby Love").

Delroy Wilson- Better Must Come: The Anthology
Delroy Wilson inicio su carrera como
cantante cuando apenas era un
adolescente en el Studio One de Clement Dodd.
(donde al parecer todo el mundo dentro
del negocio de la música Jamaicana parece haber comenzado ).
Wilson trabajo con casi todos los
productores de la isla, incluyendo Sonia Pottinger , Joe Gibbs , Winston "
Niney " Holness , Keith Hudson , Leslie Kong , y Bunny Lee.
El Disco
Son 50 pistas cubiertas en las
épocas entre 1968 a 1978, y si bien no incluye sus principios como la adaptación
de los Tams " Dancing Mood ",pero cuenta con una representación
sólida de lo que era claramente su período de punta ,especialmente su trabajo
con Bunny Lee , que dio lugar a clásicos como " Better Must Come,"Cool
Operator " y ‘Here Come the Heartaches’ .

Hot Bomb - (A Reggae Compendium)
An interesting collection of rare reggae 45s built around rhythms produced by Bunny Lee between 1971 and 1974, Hot Bomb! (the title comes from the track by toaster I-Roy that leads off the set) has a wonderfully ragged feel to it, highlighted by Big Joe, Augustus Pablo, and King Tubby's "Rasta Train," the Cables' beautiful "Be Wise," and I-Roy's
spunky "Whisky Chest," showing once again the astounding wealth and
range of material that issued from Jamaica in the early '70s.
Una interesante colección de 45s de reggae raras en torno a ritmos producidos por Bunny Lee , entre 1971 y 1974 , Hot bomb! ( el título viene de la pista por el tostador I- Roy que lleva fuera de la serie ) tiene una sensación maravillosamente, puesto de relieve por Big Joe , Augustus Pablo , y de King Tubby " Rasta tren , " hermosa melodia por The Cables " Sea sabio '', e I- Roy " Whisky en el pecho ", mostrando una vez más la riqueza asombrosa y variedad de material que emite desde Jamaica en los años 70 .

Horace Andy era un producto de la escuela de talento Studio One,
y la " versión " original ‘12’inch No quiero ser dejado afuera",

Barry Brown casado con Studio OnE,sus canciónes de protesta

Hortense Ellis es una de las grandes voces femeninas del reggae.
La versión de de su hermano ( Alton Ellis ) éxito clásico
"I am Still In Love "
es rítmica similar y líricamente cerca de la original.
Delroy Wilson era estrella en Studio One.
Además de ser uno de los mejores cantantes del reggae,
las sesiones posteriores junto con Bunny Lee se hicieron relucir
adaptando viejos éxitos de Wilson,
que hasta la fecha suenan bastante buenas igual
que las primeras versiones.
Las primeras sesiones de grabación de Leroy eran a principios de 1970
junto Jimmy Radway y Bunny Lee, posteriormente
con José Hoo Kim en Channel One .
Sus éxitos le plantearon al nivel de culto
y sus apariciones en vivo eran la fuente de controversia.
El Don trabajando duro del reggae aún divide a la opinión
de hoy, pero "Love In My Heart"
